So, now the only thing that stands in between you and your dreams of becoming a Bollywood diva is this contest. The production house S LAD Entertainment(our group company) is all set to launch this mega hunt for Bollywood’s next diva who will be cast in the upcoming movies produced by the production house. Along with good looks and a fresh face we are also looking for someone who can dance well.

The contest is in the format of a dance contest. To participate all you need to do is upload your dance videos and get rated by other users. Being the democrats that we are, the winners will be decided by vote! However, since this is a ticket to the glamour world all the entrants need to upload minimum 3 photos in their profile page(not album) which will be displayed in the contest page. So make sure you look your best in them because these photos themselves could be your ticket to Bollywood.

But, who’s complaining! Jonny won all the hearts and the votes, defeating all the monsters and zombies. His adorable rendition of the song was an instant hit and was liked more than the other scarier videos.

Unlike other contests this time we are not picking any desitara picks. This is purely because all of your entries were equally good and if we had to pick, we would pick each one of them.

The Halloween contest was a completely new thing for us as we had to step out of our usual concepts of dancing,singing,acting etc. But in spite of this you supported us with your active participation through your video uploads and votes. We must thank you all for your support and for making this contest a success as well.

With the maximum number of votes Pratik509 emerged as the winner. However there were two others who won our hearts and hence deserve a special mention, they are Hisrar and Deepankar.

Winner: Pratik509: This dude with his SRK like dimple on his cheeks and SRK like acting won all our hearts as he urged “Aaj ek zindagi aur jeelo…Kya pata Kal Ho na Ho”. This emotional portrayal from the movie Kal Ho Na Ho received the maximum votes and we are proud to crown him as the official SHAHRUKH KHAN LOOK ALIKE on Desitara.

Desitara pick: Hisrar: It would be wrong on our part if we did not mention Hisrar. He came up with numerous entertaining videos and we loved them all. He has done a very commendable job and we hope that just like the movies ‘happy is ending’ for him in all his future endeavors.

Desitara pick: Deepankar: Another participant who needs a special mention is Deepankar. We loved his humorous depiction of SRK in a soup with Salman Khan and his disappointment with his IPL team. With such a close resemblance to SRK’s dialogue delivery, he deserved this special mention.

Let us spend some time in giving a brief description about the chat feature. Once you click on the chat options panel you will get to choose from three standard status options i.e. Available, Busy and Invisible. You can also enter your own status message in the space provided. When you sign in on chat it displays all your friends who are online.

A sound notification alert option is also provided which can be disabled according to your preference. Another option that you will notice is Add Friends. With this feature you will be able to add more friends and make one-one interactions with them in real time.

It was unlike any other Sunday, we were in office, upbeat about the event and eager to see the stars. The tracks Tum Mile and Tu Hi Haqeeqat played loud in the background as we made some last moment adjustments for the event.

Suddenly the crowd went hysterical as acclaimed film maker Mahesh Bhatt entered the room along with Emraan Hashmi, Kunal Deshmukh and the lovely Soha Ali Khan. The event progressed as per schedule and the stars took turns to speak to the media and the crowd present there.

They were all stars but starry tantrums they had none.When asked about Desitara, each of them were happy to express their words of encouragement. Mr. Mahesh Bhatt was quick to point out how there is no shortage of talent in the country but there is ‘a shortage of talent to spot talent’! Keeping this in mind we assure Mr. Bhatt that we will strive to bridge this gap and promote talent like we always have.

Last but not the least let us not forget our Desitara winners who got lucky, met the stars and walked home with free passes for the premier show along with Tum Mile music CDs. It was a moment of complete satisfaction for us when a happy Manoj and Ravi posed in front of the cameras with their favorite stars by them. A perfect end to an eventful day.

1).Web Capture Integration: The credit for the introduction of this feature goes to YOU- the users. On many occasions our customer support team received complaints that users were not able to upload videos using their web-cams. We decided to work on it right away and now we have this feature live on the site. So now whenever you want to upload any video using your webcams directly, all you need to do is click the “Use your Webcam” option.

2).Video player animation integrated : This one is a total fun feature. Well everyone knows about the rating feature on the videos i.e the ‘Super cool’, ‘Cool’ and ‘Not cool’ options. This becomes more fun. Now when you rate any video, watch out for some cool animations to express your ratings. To find out what animations go ahead and rate some videos.

3).Video upload page content for information : Well this is not a feature exactly but it has been introduced to make things easier for the users. We had noticed that at times users uploaded their videos in the wrong category or did not upload them as they were not sure what category the videos belonged to. So for every upload page we have provided a brief description to remove any doubts and confusion that one might have.

At Desitara we have always adored talent and created success stories out of them. Over the past few months we have continuously worked towards spotting and promoting new talent. Among them, talent such as Hakilee , Dhwani Mittal, Raja Husan and Down South Rhythms have gone ahead to become great success stories.

The latest to join the list is Pralayh. A local Bangalore band consisting of 5 Desitara members were handpicked to open the Kailash Kher concert with their performance. They have been a regular on our site. It was through this that we considered them for the opportunity to perform alongside Kailash Kher. However this was not dropped into their hands just like that. There was a tough screening test and they lived up to our expectations and came out as the winners.

On the 24th of October Bangalore’s music lovers gathered for the Kailash Kher concert. We at Desitara waited with our fingers crossed for the show to begin, it was show time, time for Pralayh to open the concert . And open they did, they took the stage without any nerves and rocked with their own compositions. They kept the crowd glued to their music unless it was time for Kailash Kher to come to the party and rock the stage. Everyone was witness to yet another Desitara success story and we are too proud of them. After the show Kailash Kher himself was all praise for the band and their music. He even shared his contact details with the Pralayh band members.

at the end of the day we couldn’t have asked for more, our band not only got the audience reach but also got the appreciation from none other than Kailash Kher.

This is not the end, in fact it’s just the tip of the iceberg, we have numerous stories to create and many more talents to discover. As we look forward to doing just that in future, let’s take the opportunity to look back and recollect the success stories so far.

Hakilee: This user from France got a chance to perform in the ‘Miss Bollywood UK’ beauty pageant.

Dhwani Mittal: This desitara user is getting a lead role in a Bollywood film opposite Vinay Pathak.

Raja Husan: This awesome singer from Desitara won the ‘Zoom Bollywood Club’ contest and is all set to sing for the music directors Sajid-Wajid of the ‘Partner’ fame.

Down South Rhythms: This hip hop band of 5 talented Desitara users from Mysore got the golden opportunity to perform with Raghu Dixit recently at an event called BSA Hercules Cyclothon Bengaluru ’09.

This Halloween contest is all about having fun by scaring others. For the contest all we want you to do is, dress up in your Halloween costume,masks and scare others. Film a video showing how you scared your friend/family/anyone by playing a prank on them. It could be as simple as hiding in a closet and scaring anyone who opens the door. As always the winner will be decided by way of votes.

Uploading period starts today(27^th Oct) and will continue till the 15^th of November. You will have time for voting from 16^th to the 29^th of November and finally the winner will be announced on the 2^nd of December.

This time around there is a major change in the rules. Unlike other contests we are not putting any limit to the number of entries, hence you can upload any number of your Halloween videos. This is to increase the fun quotient this Halloween and to make sure that there are enough creepy and spooky videos to view and enjoy.
